Dust in the foundry – an (in)visible problem 🏹

16. January 2025

Have you ever wondered why dust is created in a foundry? 🤔 Molds made of quartz sand are used to cast metal parts. When these parts are removed, quartz sand is released, which floats in the air as invisible fine dust and gradually settles on floors and machines. When the parts are subsequently cleaned and sanded, explosive aluminum dust is also released.

To counter this problem, we used a powerful deduster including explosion protection (ATEX)! With 11 kW and an air volume of 15,000 m³/h, our system ensures effective dust extraction from the work booths and protects against the ignition of explosive aluminum dusts. 💥

A special highlight is the rotary valve with Big Pack discharge, which enables continuous dust removal and alerts employees in good time when the Big Pack needs to be replaced.
