Dedusters are extraction units and are used both in industry and in public spaces to filter dust from the air we breathe. Processes such as grinding, deburring or cutting release dusts that need to be extracted and filtered to protect the workforce. In this way, occupational health and safety regulations and legal requirements can be complied with and operators benefit from a clean hall and automatically extend the service life of their machinery.

Industrial dedusters for dust, granulate, fibers and chips

Numerous industrial processes generate dust, chips, granules, fibers and flakes of different materials, particle sizes and chemical properties. Explosive and flammable media such as aluminum, copper or flour pose a particular risk. The P (cartridge filter) and S (bag filter) series dedusters are available in various sizes and designs and can therefore be individually configured. The automatic jet-pulse filter cleaning system blows the dust cake off the filters. This significantly increases the service life of the filters and minimizes operating costs. A HEPA H14 filter is also installed in the dedusters to protect against carcinogenic substances such as stainless steel or glass. The cleaned air can then be fed back into the hall in recirculation mode or outside.

In the right mixing ratio with oxygen and an effective ignition source, flammable and explosive media in the form of gas, vapor, mist or dust can cause serious fires and violent explosions. This can injure people, destroy buildings and plant components, and ignite other flammable substances.

Our deduster series is individually configurable and can therefore be optimally adapted to the various processes in a wide range of industries. For our customer Grammer from the automotive industry, we have developed and installed two work cabins with a deduster including fire protection and ATEX concept for carcinogenic glass dust.

We have provided the world’s leading supplier of seating solutions for commercial vehicles and interior solutions for the automotive industry with two work booths in which grinding and polishing work is carried out in 3-shift operation. The harmful dust mixture that is released during polishing is extracted and effectively filtered out of the cabin air using our deduster.

Why do I need a deduster?

Dusts are small particles that can be generated during various work processes such as grinding, cutting or deburring. Dust in the air we breathe can have negative effects:

Respirable particulate matter and other pollutants pose a risk to your employees by causing serious illnesses such as asthma, cancer and headaches. This can lead to increased sick days and downtime.
Deposits on machines, tools and workpieces increase the cleaning effort and costs.
Product quality may be impaired.
The hall, floors and walls become permanently dirty and require a great deal of cleaning.
Occupational health and safety regulations require efficient filtration of dust and pollutants from the hall air, which is checked by the employers’ liability insurance association.
Statutory dust limits must be complied with. The permissible amount of dust in the hall air and the conditions for discharging the process air into the environment are regulated by law.

Are mobile dedusters also offered?

We also offer all models in our dust extractor series in a mobile version with heavy-duty castors.

How is the air filtered?

The dusty process air is extracted by means of a capture element (extraction arm, extraction hood, etc.) and fed into the extraction system. Depending on your process, the amount of dust and the dust class, it passes through one to three filter stages.

For increased dust quantities, a pre-separator (e.g. cyclone pre-separator) is used as the first filter stage to filter coarse material from the air. An additional HEPA H14 filter is integrated as a third filter stage for the filtration of fine dust and carcinogenic particles.

What filter elements are available for dedusters?

The dust extraction systems are equipped with bag filters or cartridge filters depending on the extracted medium. From nano, grooved to antistatic, we offer over 50 different filter variants. For fine dust and carcinogenic dusts we use an additional HEPA H14 filter. The filter area varies from 25 m² to 600 m² depending on the unit size and type.

How to dispose of the dust?

The dust can be collected and disposed of via various discharge systems in accordance with local regulations:

How is the cleaning of the filters performed?

The filters are cleaned automatically via the Jet Pulse cleaning system. The dust cake is blown off the filters using compressed air and collects in the discharge container. This maximizes the service life of the filters and minimizes the operating costs for replacement filters.

Single-user or multi-user extraction?

Whether single or multiple grinding machines for manual processing or automatic processing machines, the dedusters can be connected directly to the machines as direct extraction. Choose between extraction arms, extraction hoods or additional capture elements. If there are several workstations, a hall extraction system can alternatively be installed as a central dust extraction system.

For which processes are the devices suitable?

The devices are suitable for processes such as grinding, sawing, cutting, deburring, polishing, surface treatment and many more.

How energy-efficient are the dedusters?

Thanks to the customized configuration of our extraction systems, our dedusters are among the most energy-efficient devices in the industry. A frequency converter can be installed as an option, which recovers the heat from the contaminated hall air by means of efficient air recirculation.

Indoor installation or outdoor installation?

ABSAUGWERK extraction systems can be installed flexibly both indoors and outdoors. Due to the limited space in your hall, many of our customers prefer an outdoor installation. Possible additional costs for a longer pipe system should be taken into account.

Recirculation or exhaust air?

Heat recovery can make recirculation mode the more energy-efficient option. A frequency converter is integrated to ensure energy-efficient air recirculation.

What dust classes are there?

It is not always clear to operators of dedusters which usage category of an extraction system a particular dust class corresponds to. The Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA ) has therefore drawn up a table providing an overview of dust classes in accordance with DIN EN 60335-2-69.

How does dust extraction work?

The dust-laden air enters the extraction system via a pipe and passes through several filter stages. The air can then be directed back into the room or outside via a pipe system. The number of filters and the filter surface depends on the particle size and dust quantity of the material. This is referred to as mechanical dedusting or mechanical separation, as the dust particles remain in the filter medium and the air continues to flow.
