At the WERK, we implemented an extraction solution for a customer\u2019s demanding polishing process. Polishing steel with polishing paste produces dry, free-flowing dust that, due to the paste used, has somewhat sticky properties. This is precisely what must be taken into account when designing the filtration system.<\/p>\n
A Series S 4000 deduster<\/a> (11 kW | 15,000 m\u00b3\/h) is used. Filtration is provided by 48 antistatic needle-felt bag filters with a total filter area of approximately 24 m\u00b2. Emissions are captured directly at the source via a direct machine connection. After filtration, the cleaned exhaust air is recirculated back into the production area via the outlet at the top of the system.<\/p>\n In addition, we have installed a cyclone pre-separator upstream of the deduster<\/a>. This separates coarser particles and components of the polishing paste before they reach the actual filter. This reduces the load on the downstream filter stage and extends the service life of the filters.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udca1 Why use a bag filter?<\/strong> And because we address the issue of filter clogging right at its source, we also use our ABSAUGWERK precoat unit<\/a>. It applies a protective precoat layer to the filter elements, thereby reducing the adhesion of sticky particles to the filter media.<\/p>\n The system is now on its way directly from the WERK to the end customer. There, it will be set up and integrated into the production process. \ud83d\udcaa<\/p>\n
Due to the polishing paste used, the resulting dust may contain sticky and fibrous particles. Bag filters are particularly well-suited for these characteristics and reduce the risk of the filter elements clogging or sticking together quickly.<\/p>\n
